Following gaspodog, the "20 songs" meme.

Here are the first lines from the first 20 songs that came up on random shuffle from my mp3 collection (although I've ignored any initial "Woo-hoo!" or "Yeah!" lines). You now get to guess the song/artist that each one came from - I'll post answers next week if nobody gets it, and I'll give credit to whoever guesses correctly first. And for once, Google is not your friend! So, on with the list:

1. You see it every day in every way
2. Spending all my nights, all my money, going out on the town
3. Well even the longest night won't last forever
4. I play out my role
5. You try to read me, you try to figure out
6. She's been afraid to go out (sammoore)
7. Sunshine go away today, don't feel much like dancing
8. There are times when you get suckered in, by drugs and alcohol and sex with women (stagknight)
9. Big wheels keep on turning, carry me home to see my kin (stagknight)
10. There's a green hill far away
11. I can't stop this feeling, deep inside of me (sulkyblue)
12. Moon river, wider than a mile (sulkyblue)
13. Come on and listen to the mole rap
14. View from a bridge
15. I saw the lamplight from your window
16. Yeah I'm a deeper shade of blue (sulkyblue)
17. I don't wanna lose you, but I don't wanna use you
18. What's a girl suppposed to do, with a fool like you?
19. I'd be really pleased to meet you if only I could remember your name
20. Get up, get out, move on, move on, there's no doubt

I've tried to be generous by taking a relaxed view of "first line", so in some cases this is more like the first two lines, to give you a better chance. Some of these are songs that I wouldn't recognise if I heard them (since they came on big compilation albums) - this may or may not increase the likelihood that you'll recognise them :)

11 - Vonda Shepherd, Hooked on a Feeling
12 - Harry Mancini, Moon River
16 - Steps - Deeper Shade of Blue

I had to google a couple 'cos they were driving me nuts, now i'm frustrated with myself for not actually getting them

Yup, I had a feeling you'd recognise #16 :) Were #9 and #15 the ones you googled for?

Technically #12 was the Jerry Butler version of "Moon River", but I think I'll give you the point for being near enough :)

8. Trey Parker - It's Easy Mmkay
9. Lynyrd Skynyrd(sp?) - Sweet Home Alabama

I had a terrible fear that 6 was "Yellow Polka-dot bikini". (The Timmy Mallet version is scarred across my brain.)

Indeedy :)

Well, technically #8 is "Riches to Rags (Mmmkay)" by Nappy Roots, from the same film, but since the first line is exactly the same I think that's near enough. And #9 was by Lynard Skynard.

#6 is James Taylor. Her Town? Ruth has the CD but I can't name the tracks on it.
