Over the last few days, I've been making an effort to tidy up my flat. With that in mind, I used Cif (formerly known as "Jif") spray on my shower tray. They claim that no scrubbing is required, but they lie! Ahem. In fairness, scrubbing with that was more effective than scrubbing without it, but there was still a case of some rather than none - the "spray and rinse" method was completely ineffective.

Tonight I started baking mince pies, for Sunday's pie-off. I'll post more details after the event, but for now here's a photo of my first batch, fresh from the oven:

I've eaten one of them (for testing purposes), which I thought was quite nice. However, if I wind up sending the rest of them to be judged in absentia then you may want to be cautious! Anyway, as soon as this final batch are done I can go to bed; I've made 30 to bring with me, which should be enough for one per person (based on elvum's estimate of previous attendance).

To be fair, "spray and rinse" probably does work if you do it every time you use the shower. No cleaner is going to cut through old dirt by "spray and rinse" unless it's so corrosive that you wouldn't want it in the same room as your lungs without ppe...
