It's Halloween season, so yesterday I engaged in a mano-a-gourd… - John C. Kirk

It's Halloween season, so yesterday I engaged in a mano-a-gourd battle with a pumpkin; I think it turned out quite well for a first attempt:
(I'm not quite sure why I didn't take a photo with candle lit and light off...)
Speaking of light sources, I've managed to break the one in my lounge (while trying to change a bulb in the dark), so I now have the top half dangling from the ceiling and the bottom half lying around:
It's not a great photo, but one of the springs has a T shaped piece of metal balanced on top of it and one doesn't (because I dropped it on the floor). I don't see any obvious way to reattach this to the dangling bit - any ideas? More specifically, is this something that anyone with half a brain should be able to figure out, or is it something that I need to bring in an electrician for?
Meanwhile, I seem to be in the middle of a 24-hour flu; apologies to anyone I infected last night...
