Day 11: I've now done the first coat on the kitchen walls, so you can compare with yesterday's picture:
Kitchen today Kitchen yesterday
I think it looks quite smart, although that photo is slightly deceptive - it's actually a pale brown, rather than the white that it appears to be.

I've also done both coats of paint on my inverse feature wall, at the opposite end of the hallway. "What's an inverse feature wall?" I hear you ask. Well, I'm glad you asked me that! Normally, if you have lots of pale walls in a room, you then have one in a bolder colour to stand out from the rest, and that's a feature wall. In my case, I've done it the opposite way around, by having a paler wall surrounded by bolder ones. According to the colour theory I've read, this should make that wall recede into the distance, thusly making the hallway seem longer.

So, let us test this theory:
Hallway
It's a bit unclear, but that brightly coloured stripe on the right-hand side is the kitchen wall. As you can see, this appears to be closer than the paler wall in the background. Cynics might say that it only appears to be closer because it is in fact closer, but to them I say "Pfah!" Hah, you don't have an answer to that do you, o imaginary strawmen?!

And on that triumphant note, I'm off to bed.
