Bah - tube strikes are not a good thing. I left the house at 9am this morning, but didn't get into the office until 12:15. That's 15 minutes to walk to Hammersmith bus station, then half an hour waiting in the queue (which stretched 3/4 of the way round the building), 2 1/4 hours on the bus itself, and 15 min walk up the hill at the end. I felt sorry for people waiting at bus stops - they had no chance of getting on the bus, when there was that big a queue at the start of the journey. It's supposed to be a 24 hour strike, i.e. finishing at 8pm tonight, but according to the Evening Standard, that ain't gonna happen. So, another late evening by the time I get home. Oh well, I suppose I've had my quote of good luck for the week, so I can't complain too much. Still, I don't have much sympathy for the strikers. Personally, the only unions I've ever joined have been student unions - DSU and NUS, and I have never gone on strike from any of my jobs.
