Wireless Macs

Here's a quick question for the Mac users out there - do you know of any common problems connecting a Mac to a wireless network? We've got one at work that is amazingly slow, so it takes about 15 minutes to load up the Google website, but it does eventually get there, so the configuration is presumably correct. This machine is running OS X, and it's connecting to a NetGear wireless router (it doesn't need to talk to any other machines on the network). The PCs that use the wireless network are all fine, so I'm guessing that there's some kind of compatibility problem, but I don't know much about Macs, and the owner doesn't know much about computers.

Anyway, don't spend ages researching this, but let me know if there's some kind of fast/slow toggle switch that I ought to be flicking :)
