Flat update

I've now arranged an electrical test, so that will be happening this week (the estate agent did tell me which day, but I forgot to make a note of it). And apparently the vendor has fixed the leak, so that's good.

Got a copy of the lease agreement from my solicitor today - there's some really dull legalese in there (with RANDOM words capitalised), so it's taken me a couple of hours to wade through it, but it basically looks ok. One amusing phrase: "A right to enter with servants workmen and others". You don't hear the word "servant" much nowadays... One scary aspect of the property boom: this lease is dated January 1985, and the original purchase price for the flat was £23,950. By Jan 2004, the price was £99,950. I rather doubt that all of that was due to DIY. And one interesting clause - the annual ground rent is due on 25th March each year. So, that gives the vendor an incentive to be out by then (so that I get stuck with this year's bill). It's only £50, but it may help to speed things along a bit, which is good.
