All change

Well, I'm now gainfully unemployed - it was my last day at PMSI yesterday. It's actually been a relatively quiet few days. When I left my last job (Alpha Telecom), I finished on the Friday, but I was back in there on Saturday morning, giving the other IT guys some last minute training. The job before that (The Corporation of London), I finished on the Friday, but I didn't go home on Thursday evening - I was working all night to finish off the projects I was working on. This time around, I finished my handover yesterday afternoon. Then had a talk to the boss (kind of a final debriefing/look forward), where he told me that I'll be getting a nice bonus - much appreciated! I also got some books/comics as a general leaving gift from the others in the office. Slightly surreal - the office manager asked what I wanted, so I pointed her at my Amazon wishlist (I figured that way they could pick and choose based on budget). Then I had to show her how to actually create an account, and place the order, so it slightly lost the element of surprise :) But I got some good stuff out of it, so I'm not complaining. Then we all went out for drinks in the evening, which was fun.

Looking ahead, the boss is very keen for me to stay in touch, and maybe do some more work for them in the future on an ad-hoc basis, so I'll see how that goes. I've now got two weeks before the MSc course starts, and the big thing between now and then is moving house. I'll certainly be glad once that's out of the way - I've spent the last couple of weeks feeling like I'm killing time waiting for each landmark to come along.

So, in two weeks I'll be in the new house, on my new course, living my new life. Stay tuned :)
