Hmm, my email is continuing to have issues - stuff that's sent to my Golgotha address sometimes comes through immediately, and sometimes takes 6 hours or more. There are a couple of emails I'm expecting from Friday that still haven't turned up, so I don't know whether they've been lost in the ether... Anyway, if you've emailed me in the last couple of weeks, and I haven't replied, then I may not have received the message. I have a plan to fix this, but in the meantime best use my Kings address for anything important - I won't post it here, but you can phone me or whatever if you want it.

In other news, it was Picocon yesterday, which went ok. From my point of view, it was significantly more relaxed than the last two have been (since I wasn't running it this year).

I went swimming again today (and got some goggles). I got up to 500m (20 lengths), or at least I think so (I may be out by 2 lengths), so that's an improvement over last week. Since I was the slowest person in the "medium" lane last week, I used the slow lane today, where I was the fastest person - the whole fish/pond syndrome. Ah well. I need to figure out this front crawl business properly though - I know the theory (breathe out underwater, rather than keeping your face out of the water the whole time), but I had trouble putting it into practice. Maybe next week...

Incidentally, in my latest clear-out (not sure what the motorbike equivalent of a car boot sale is), a few new items. As usual, these are free to anyone who wants them. I have:

* Which Databank - much like the last one I got rid of, it's a personal organiser - a cross between a calculator and a palmtop (3 kb memory).

* Hands-free kit for Nokia phone - it came with my old 6210, but I don't know whether it would work with any of their phones.

* Belt pocket thing for a mobile phone (leather pouch that clips onto your belt). It's the right size for a Motorola 8800, so it's too big for my current phone - may fit other phones too.

Give me a yell if you want to claim any of these - first come, first served.

In other news, I see that people with free LiveJournal accounts can now pick up syndicated feeds. So, for any ICSF people who want to read Bob's journal, go to:
type "bobrandom" (no quotes) in the "Account" box at the bottom, then click "Add feed". My ulterior motive is that the more people watch a feed, the "cheaper" it gets for each person :)

The idea of a syndicated bob

just seems too weird to me :)

DiverseBooks generates a number of news feeds. Any idea how I get them added?

Re: DiverseBooks

The short answer is "you can't" (since you're a free account user).

The longer answer is that you add a newsfeed the same way that you subscribe to one (i.e. on the same syndication page) - assign it a unique name, and type in the URL. When you do this, it will be added, and you will be the single watcher (cost of 1 unit). That's why you can't do it as a free user, since your quota is 0.99 units. You could ask someone with a paid account to add the feed for you, then you could sign up to it. However, that person would need to stay watching it - if they stop, then the cost would go back to 1 for you, which returns you to the original problem. Unless you know other people with free accounts who would also like to watch it, that is. I'd be happy to set the feeds up for you, then stop watching after a day or so, but I'm not really interested in having them in my friends page permanently (sorry).

Of course, it'd be more useful if he ever posted something...
