Re: Honour ... or dignity?

Do you attend film premieres often? And are you supposed to dandy yourself up for them, or is it just something that you like to do?

Well, there's a distinction here between a film premiere (typically in Leicester Square, where all the celebrities turn up) and opening night (at the local cinema, packed out with normal people). So, I don't go to premieres on a regular basis :) Although it is pretty standard for people who do attend them to dress up for the occasion.

So, this was partly just a silly comment from me. However, a friend of mine made a short film last year (on a zero budget, by getting friends to act in it), and she's talking about having a mini-premiere for that at some point.

Incidentally, have you had one of those graduation letters from Kings?

That's what i expected :-)

So did you act in this short film of your friend's?

As for the graduation letter, i'd imagine that they've posted it to India - so with any luck, i should get within a month after the ceremony :-P

Seriously though, i guess it'd reach India sometime next week & my mother would let me know.

I didn't act in the film myself, so I'll be interested to see what it's actually like (having heard various comments about it so far).

As for the letters, I think it's currently even money as to whether they'll reach India or London first... Will you be coming back over for the ceremony, or giving it a miss?

Well, you're not the only one without a sense of loyalty to KCL :-)

It was almost like a business deal - they got nearly 11,000 pounds out of me, and i got an M.Sc & the kind of Ph.D opportunity i hoped for.

In any case, i'm going home on Xmas eve & only returning on the 19th of Jan, so it's out of the question - but i doubt that i would've come anyway, esp. as i'd need to apply for a visa.

I do hope to visit the UK for a conference at least once during my Ph.D, though :-)
